Course Descriptions
CORE Training
10 minutes – A hearing test designed to monitor Occupational Hearing Loss. Voluntary item for work in the ICI sector.
4 Hours – Confined Space Entrant and Attendant Training. Mandatory requirement for work in the ICI sector.
30 Minutes – Quantitative Fit Testing for 3M Full and Half-Mask Respirators – Mandatory requirement for work in the ICI sector.
4 Hours for Full Course, 1 Hour for Refresher – Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System – Mandatory requirement for work in the ICI sector.
8 Hours – CPO-Approved Working at Heights Training Program. Mandatory for work in the ICI sector. Workers have until April 1, 2017 to complete an approved working at heights training program for all construction work in Ontario.
Apprenticeship Training
4 Hours – Provides awareness of the dangers of asbestos as well as precautionary measures.
16 hours – Provides a basic understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act in Ontario.
16 hours – A program designed to provide workers with basic skills, techniques and safe rigging practices.
4 hours – Outlines the various ways to control hazardous energy.
3 Hours – TSSA propane awareness course.
Weld Testing
Monthly Testing – Register for CWB testing by contacting your local weld instructor. Subject to Availability.
Specialty Ticket Testing – Contact your local weld instructor to arrange a TSSA test.
Specialty Training
24 hours – Certifies workers to operate a mobile crane with lifting capacity up to 8 tonnes.
8 Hours – Certifies workers to operate an aerial work platform.
8 hours – Provides training for first-line field supervisors in the areas of responsibilities, liabilities, management, people skills and business aspects of construction.
2 days – St John Ambulance Standard First Aid and CPR Certification.
8 hours per course – Extended Boom and Counter Balance Forklift – Certifies workers to operate a forklift.
4 Days – Classroom and Practical learning certificate course designed to enhance the skills of an experienced rigger.
8 hours – Certifies workers to operate an overhead crane.
5 days – Provides planning, managing and scheduling tools to help deliver projects on time and on budget. For Boilermakers wishing to advance into upper management positions.
2 days – A course by the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers providing tools to aid members wishing to represent the Boilermakers on the job as a Union Steward.
16 hours – Certifies workers to install and operate swing stage platforms.
