We have a couple courses that have been requested within our membership and we have secured a couple dates in February for the following: Elevated Work Platform (scissor lift) and JLG Training February 12th and/or 13th (depending on the number interested) Hoisting and Rigging Qualification February 19th and 20th Changed to March 5th & March 6th Please touch base with Jayne at jayne@ibblocal128.org or (905) 332-8109 to reserve a spot. Also, keep your emails open and check the website from time to time for new training as we are in the process of getting trainers qualified to train our members on the Telescopic Forklift/Telehandler, Forklift and Aerial Lift Platforms.

TO ALL MEMBERS OF BOILERMAKERS, LOCAL 128 Due to the amount of manhours our Local has worked over the course of 2017, I am happy to inform you that after making a request, the International has approved that our current field dues rate of 4.5% will be reduced to 4.25%. On an annual basis, our monthly Union dues are increased by the International office. However, I am pleased to report that our request to be exempt from any rate increase has also been approved and will remain unchanged at the current monthly rate of $42.50 for 2018. I would like to thank you, the membership, for your hard work in making this possible. Please remember that if monthly dues are not deducted by your employer the first week of every month while working, a payment should be made to your local office to keep your membership in good standing. For your convenience, each Local office is equipped for debit and credit card payments as well as the PayPal option on our web site. If your parent is a member of one of Canada’s construction and building trades unions whose local union has within its jurisdiction a General Presidents’ Maintenance Agreement or a National Maintenance Agreement you could win a $1000 bursary toward your higher education.  Open to students currently attending a post-secondary academic institution  on a full time basis for the 2017-2018 academic year.
